Last week, all ISM students across the district were able to come together in a half-day business symposium. We were able to network, connect with professionals, and learn from other students as well. I was able to talk to different professionals and learn from their experiences. One of the professionals I contacted a couple of days before the symposium was also there. Last week, I also had my first research interview with a business developer at RBFCU. Although she doesn’t do marketing right now, she has done marketing for many years in her career before her current job. I had a great time talking to her and learning about her history in marketing and her current job. I learned that her lifestyle/job is one that I see myself in 5-7 years from now.
This week, I want to focus on getting more interviews scheduled. I met one professional at the business symposium to whom I handed my resume, and she reached out to me yesterday. I am currently in conversation with her to set up an interview for the week of the 17th. I also need to contact and send LinkedIn messages to more people this week so I can find a few more people to interview before I pick someone to be my mentor.
