Last year in ISM, I studied biotechnology and I didn’t accomplish all I wanted to. After facing lots of uncertainty about my topic and questioning what I even want to do in the future, I found my passion halfway through the year: marketing. Although it was too late to change my topic when I discovered this, I knew I wanted to take ISM again my senior year to research my newfound passion at a much deeper level.
I have high aspirations for myself this year. I wanted to do so much last year with biotech but I wasn’t able to once I realized I didn’t want to pursue a career in it. This year, I have done all the intro research before ISM started and am so excited to get started with my research! The first week, I did my intro speech and defined (both for myself and for the class) what my goals are for this year and what my purpose is in ISM. As I said in my intro speech, I want to accomplish everything I wasn’t able to last year. More importantly, I want to prove to myself and the world what a high schooler is capable of.
In the coming weeks, I am going to start with basic career research to create a foundation for myself this year. I plan on starting with a career outlook assessment and then going deeper into different forms of marketing before I go into social media marketing specifically.
I am so excited to see what this year will bring and what I am able to accomplish!
